Union in legal bid to block NHS shake-up
After the British government announced changes to the National Health Service that would result in thousands of managerial positions being cut, Britain's biggest public sector union, UNISON has applied for a judicial review of the changes. The unions says that there needs to be a public consultation before changes are implemented. the consultation runs until October 11, but only requests views on how changes can be made, rather than if the changes should be made. The government says that they implementing changes that will put more medical power in the hands of doctors and patients, and that they were asking for opinions from the health sector, the public and unions.
