Union members to protest casino project in Atlantic City
Jersey City members of union UNITE-HERE will take action against a Revel Casino being built int Atlantic City today. The casino is scheduled to open next year and will most likely enjoy tax breaks and incentives from the state. The casino property is owned by firm Morgan-Stanley, which has made many unhappy about where the benefits of tax breaks will be going - Morgan Stanley has already received federal money in the bailout, further tax breaks could save the company up to $300 million. Rank and file UNITE HERE members plan to come together later today in front of the Morgan-Stanley offices in Jersey City, to protest the tax breaks for the casino. It is further expected that conservative Steve Lonegan, a former candidate for governor, will join the protest.
