Union membership continues its decline
Today the Bureau of Labor statistics said 14 million workers were members of unions in the US which is down by almost 250,000 workers from the year before. Despite the number of American workers increasing substantially, union membership rates have fallen steadily over the last two generations. Union membership increased in 2020, which the Bureau attributes to “the steep drop off in nonunion workers at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.”
