Union OK ends dispute with Fry's, Safeway
After more than a year of negotiations, the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 99 and Fry's Food Stores and Safeway in Arizona have reached a new contract. The new contract includes health care concessions, wage increases and funding for the workers' pension fund. Altogether the contract covers about 24,000 workers in Arizona. The ratification of the contract comes after the union rejected a contract last month and threatened to strike.
