Union rules out Easter strike at British Airways
The rumor that British Airway employees intend to strike over the travel-heavy Easter holiday has been squashed today by the union itself, which said that, while still considering a strike, it was 'never their intention to call industrial action over Easter.' Problems have arisen in the British Airways negotiations with the Unite branch representing cabin crew and discussions of pay, job security, and working conditions have been rocky, especially after the airline took the union to court in order to halt a strike ordered over the Christmas holidays. If the collective bargaining continues to flounder, however, a strike may come some time before (or after) the April Easter weekend. Unite members are scheduled to vote next week on whether or not to authorize a strike. A date for such an event has not been announced yet.
