Union supporters protest bills at Arizona Capital
Arizona workers are protesting bills that would limit rights for public employees. Bills that have already been approved by the State Senate would stop paying workers for union activities and require yearly re-certification of unions. Two other bills currently in the Senate would ban collective bargaining for public employees and end dues checkoff. Another bill proposed by the Governor would remove civil-service protections from many public workers. Supporters of the bills say that they will make government more efficient. Opponents say that these bills are an attack on working people and the middle class.
