Union Takes New Tack in Organizing Effort at Pork-Processing Plant
When the United Food and Commercial Workers attempted to organize a North Carolina pork processing plant, the company was found to have illegally intimidated workers into voting down the union. While litigation on the matter drags on, the union is lining up allies ? civil rights groups, college students and members of the clergy ? to press the company to agree not to fight a unionization effort.
