Union, U.C. Students Fume Over Bonuses
Students at the University of California (UC) and the union representing campus workers are upset over $2.4 million in bonuses handed out to administrators at its five medical schools. UC has struggled financially and has been forced to raise student fees for four consecutive years because of state funding cuts. UC officials defended themselves by saying that the bonuses were in line with industry standards and came out of money made by UC hospitals.
