Union Urges Caterpillar Rebuff
Union leaders at a caterpillar plant in Illinois say that they will tell workers not to vote for a new contract offer. The workers have been on strike for a month, and will vote on the offer Wednesday. The union says that the changes made from the last offer do not address key concerns around pensions, health care and wages. Caterpillar is offering a $1,000 bonus if the workers ratify the contract before June 10. Caterpillar has continued to run the plant throughout the strike with managers.
