Union Votes to Take Cuts at Northwest
The baggage handlers and ramp workers at Northwest Airlines approved concessions on Friday aimed at helping the company emerge from bankruptcy protection. The same workers had rejected an earlier set of concessions. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, which represents the workers, said the new deal was not as bad as the first one. The approval leaves only flight attendants without a concessionary deal among Northwest's large unions.
