Chipotle’s only unionized location has filed a claim with the National Labor Relations Board, stating that Chipotle violated federal labor laws. The unionized Chipotle is located in Lansing, Michigan, and the store successfully unionized in 2022. The employees are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and the union alleges that Chipotle disciplined a worker for participating in union activities, and stated that raises couldn’t be given due to unionization at the store. Chipotle has stated that store management has bargained in good faith with Teamsters, but the union has claimed otherwise. If a settlement is not reached between the two parties, the case will go before an NLRB administrative law judge.
