Unionized Distrokid employees have been put on administrative leave
Distrokid, a major independent music distributor, placed several employees on administrative leave last week and has stated that this is due to the company shifting labor overseas. The move affected thirty-seven union employees and came right before negotiations were set to begin between the music distributor and the employee union. The National Association of Broadcast Engineers and Technicians-Communications Workers of America Union represents unionized Distrokid employees and claims the company cited different reasons for the change. Distrokid informed the union that placing the workers on administrative leave would allow the company to have more funding to support marketing salaries. The quality control, quality assurance, and artist relations divisions will be affected by these changes, and a third-party customer service team is set to replace the artist relations division.
