Unionized strippers picket for more booty
Protesting management’s refusal to budge in contract negotiations, strippers held an informational picket yesterday outside the Lusty Lady, San Francisco’s only organized strip club and one of the few clubs in the country that still operates as a traditional peep show---using coin or token-operated curtains. Wearing T-shirts stating that “Bad girls like good contracts,” the dancers chanted “Two, four, six, eight, pay us more to gyrate" as they tried to regain a $3.00 an hour wage concession they made twenty months ago when management claimed financial problems. With only forty days remaining in the current contract, the sixty dancers and fifteen support workers at the Lusty Lady represented by Service Employees International Union Local 790, are also fighting management’s attempts to cut the dancers’ benefits and the support workers’ wages.
