Unions Angered by Postal Service?s Staples Outlets
The U.S. Postal Service?s plans to open retail centers in 84 Staples stores nationwide is drawing the ire of the American Postal Workers Union. The 200,000-member union is planning boycotts and protests. The postal service is actively looking to form more partnerships with privately run organizations as its financial situation has grown direr with each passing year. The Postmaster General has stated that the partnerships have nothing to do with the privatization of the Postal Service, but rather about driving up demand for USPS products and services. If successful, the program is set to be expanded to more than 1,500 other stores.
