Unions claim Verizon firings are retribution
Verizon Wireless has fired 40 employees who were involved in a two-week strike last summer. The company said that the employees violated the company's code of conduct while picketing. They say the workers made threats and engaged in violence. The Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, which represent the Verizon workers who went out on strike say that they will appeal the firings in court, and that this is a bargaining tactic by Verizon.
