Unions complain about American Airline’s lack of adequate transportation and lodging for workers
Following multiple grievances filed by American Airline pilots and flight attendants, the labor unions representing them say that the carrier has failed to provide adequate transportation and lodging during layovers. Employees cite a lack of hotel rooms, extensive wait times for available rooms, and transportation delays. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants and Allied Pilots Association said in a statement that they have employees sleeping in airports and outside of baggage claim. American Airlines says that they are looking into the union concerns and that “taking care of our crew members while they're away from home is a priority for American.” The pilot’s union says they want employees reimbursed for lodging expenses including when they must find hotel rooms themselves.
