Unions criticize sportswear industry
The International Trade Union Confederation leveled criticism at the International Olympic Committee and the sportswear industry on Monday, claiming that neither group has taken necessary steps to address the labor rights of Chinese workers in the lead up to the Beijing Olympics. The ITUC, along with international textile union ITGLWF and the Clean Clothes Campaign, produced a report on workers' rights in Asia that the IOC called "comprehensive"; the IOC also claimed to support fair and ethical labor practices, and to have had a "productive dialogue with the labor unions."
