Unions eye fight over role of federal contractors
Unions representing federal employees hope to make the security leaks at Booz Allen Hamilton an example against federal contracting. Progressively more work has shifted from the government to the private sector as a government downsizing measure. During the Bush administration, the Project on Government Oversight estimated that there were roughly 7.6 million contractors working for the government. Advocates of federal contracting affirm that security clearances are maintained by the government and not by private companies.
