Unions in Columbus, Ohio are seeking a labor agreement with the contractor of John Glenn International Airport construction project
The John Glenn International Airport in Columbus, Ohio was recently approved to receive $250 million in funding. The funding was approved by the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, and the money will fund the construction of additional airport terminals and a new parking garage. Local unions are seeking a labor agreement with the contractor of the project, due to concerns regarding the contractor. Previous employees who worked for the contractor have claimed that wage theft occurred and that a past contract was manipulated. The unions are represented by the Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Constructions Trades Council, and the council is seeking a labor agreement that would ensure equal rights and due-process protections for workers. A labor agreement would also mean that the contractor will solely use union labor for the project.
