Unions take shot at casino
Officials at Foxwoods Resort Casino are appealing to employees not to sign authorization cards that would force a vote on union representation. Unions such as the United Auto Workers have begun organizing over 10,000 casino workers in an effort to unionize the resort and win the right to collectively bargain. While a similar effort to unionize in the 1990s failed, union officials believe that some recent signs of worker dissatisfaction signal possible success this time around.
