United Airlines Mechanics Strike New Deal
United Airlines has now settled its contract disputes with all unions bar one, after the mechanics agreed a deal with the airline. Only the machinists union remains locked in dispute with United, while the pilots and flight attendants earlier agreed five-year deals. Though a new contract has been tentatively agreed, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association do not view the settlement as a victory - United garnered a 3.9 percent pay cut, on top of reduced benefits and pensions. The agreement is yet to be ratified.
