United chief advocates more foreign ownership
The chief executive of United Airlines, Glenn Tilton, warned attendees at a foreign relations summit on global aviation that the U.S. airline industry faces a major challenge from the international development and growth of airlines around the world merging and becoming supercarriers. Along with the Air Transport Association, Mr. Tilton is urging the government to abolish the restrictions that limit foreign ownership of domestic airlines, or at least raise the limit of foreign ownership and encourage cross border investment.
