United Feeling Merger Pains
United Continental, the product of a merger between United and Continental airlines last year, is facing problems around its employees. The Air Line Pilots Association, which represents United pilots, filed a suit against the company, saying that new operating procedures implemented by the company are not up to the standards of safety. They want to postpone the changes. The company says that the suit is an effort to influence contract negotiations in the pilots' favor. United has said that they were overly confident of their success in reaching labor agreements quickly.
