United, Unions Hung Up in Contract Talks
Despite reports last week that tentative settlements were close, United Airlines and three of its unions remain locked in contract negotiation. Questions as to whether the aggrevied workers will strike are as yet unresolved; a work stoppage could possible occur consequent of failed contract talks. United hopes to replace its workers' current pension and benefit plans with lower costing ones.
