University of Washington academic staff could pause strike as tentative agreements are reached
Various academic staff at the University of Washington, including engineers, postdoctoral scholars, and researchers have reached two tentative agreements with the University, and the voting results regarding the agreements will be announced on Tuesday. University of Washington staff have been on strike for 9 days, and the strike has temporarily paused because of the tentative agreements. If the agreements are approved, the strike will end and staff members will receive pay raises, increases in funding, and more career advancement paths and opportunities. Other labor unions, University of Washington student employees, and the US Education Secretary have supported the strike and showed their solidarity.
