Unmarried gay couples lose health benefits
Seven months after Massachusetts became the only state to legalize same sex marriage, some employers in the state, many of whom pioneered domestic partner benefits for unmarried same sex partners, have said they are now withdrawing those benefits for fairness and consistency reasons. They say that the benefits were extended to equalize them for employees who were not legally able to have their relationships recognized and that the same rules should apply to everyone now that marriage is an option.
