Unpaid No More: Interns Win Major Court Battle
Due to a lawsuit filed by a law student named Eric Glatt, a New York federal court has ruled that Fox Searchlight Pictures should have been paying a group of formal interns. This case has demonstrated the unfair fallacy of providing experience as compensation and has resulted in new regulations instated by the Department of Labor. This development may have negative consequences, however, for a young-networking workforce likely to be left unemployed; thus, prompting debate between equity of treatment and opportunity.
