UPDATE 2-Union warns of industrial action as Royal Mail cuts 1,300 jobs
The postal service of Great Britain has announced that it will be cutting about 1,300 jobs just five months after it was partially sold to private management. The move is expected to save about 50 million pounds per year. The organization has seen more than 50,000 jobs lost in the past 11 years as it tries to survive in an ever more digital environment. Unite, the trade union that represents most of the workers who are affected by the cuts, has said that industrial action is a possible response to the ?ruthless? cuts. At the center of the restructuring debate is both how best to prove value in an increasingly competitive market and rising pension costs.
