Temperatures were over 100 degrees last week, and drivers raised concerns regarding the heat. Workers were instructed to keep working, and drivers stated that UPS needs better guidelines regarding high-temperature working conditions. Another heat-related incident occurred last year in the same area, and a driver died while delivering packages due to heat stress. UPS stated that following the incident, fans and forced air induction systems were installed in certain delivery vehicles. However, air conditioning systems have not been added to any vehicles, and the back of these vehicles can reach up to 130 degrees during extreme heat.
