US Airways reaches pay-cut deal with union
US Airways and the Communications Workers of America have reached an agreement on pay and benefit cuts for 5,600 customer-service and reservation agents. US Airways, which filed for bankruptcy protection Sept. 12, is seeking to cut $950 million from annual labor spending. As part of its reorganization US Airways is also asking the bankruptcy court to throw out contracts for three unions, end some pension plans and cut retiree health-care benefits.
