US Airways shutting its Boston crew base
US Airways will shut down crew bases in Boston, LaGuardia Airport and McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas and will cut flights to other destinations as part of an effort to save money. The airline plans to cut about 1,000 jobs in 2010 and focus on its hubs in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Phoenix and Charlotte. The airline says the cuts are necessary for a return to profitability and efficient and industry analysts agree. The airline lost $800 million in 2008.
