US jobless rate at five-year low
The U.S. economy added 92,000 jobs last month, taking the jobless rate to its lowest level in more than five years. Labor Department figures for October showed that 4.4 percent of the U.S. workforce were unemployed, as against 4.6 percent in the previous month. The number of new jobs created fell short of predictions by analysts, who had forecast an increase of 125,000. However, it is the third month in a row that the politically-sensitive unemployment rate has shown a decrease.
