US judge tosses Trump administration bid to cancel union contracts
A federal judge in Texas has dismissed a lawsuit brought by several U.S. agencies seeking to enforce a Trump-era executive order aimed at canceling union contracts for federal workers. The court ruled that the agencies lacked standing to preemptively ask for judicial approval to implement the order. The decision marks a temporary win for the American Federation of Government Employees, which represents hundreds of thousands of federal employees. The rejected order would have affected about 75% of unionized federal workers by expanding national security exemptions to bypass collective bargaining.
