Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. and Infosys Ltd., Indian tech companies, are being investigated by the Department of Labor under accusations that they illegally used the H-1B visa program to replace American workers with immigrants using temporary work visas at electric company Southern California Edison. There has been a huge increase in H-1B visa applications this year, which could be evidence that companies are abusing the program to hire cheaper labor.
