USDA Proposes Definition of Farming, Limiting Some Subsidies
The USDA and government are in the process of redefining who qualifies to receive government farm subsidies. On Tuesday, the USDA proposed new language that would require farmers to work at least 200 hours a year to qualify for a subsidy. The government would like to prevent those who own a farm, but do not operate it from receiving subsidies.
