Over 40 companies in Europe have pledged to hire thousands of refugees over the following three years. Amazon has pledged to hire the most refugees, stating that over 5,000 refugees will join Amazon. Other companies such as Marriott, Hilton, and Starbucks have each pledged to hire over a thousand refugees. Companies are hoping that refugees will add diversity to their workforce, as well as fill worker shortages that have persisted in Europe due to the pandemic. Many of the refugees are Ukrainian because they are fleeing from conflict in their home country.
