Visual effects employees at Marvel are seeking to unionize
Marvel visual effects employees have increased union organizing efforts and have filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board. If the petition is approved and the rest of the unionization process is successful, VFX workers at Marvel will be represented by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees union. The union represents thousands of workers in the entertainment industry, such as technicians and set workers. Visual effects workers in Hollywood have largely remained non-unionized, and oftentimes receive fewer benefits and protections compared to other employees in the industry. Marvel VFX employees have voiced complaints about the toxic work environment at the company, stating that Marvel overworks and underpays employees, and has unmanageable workloads and turnaround times.
