Volvo Convicted of Gender Discrimination
Swedish car company Volvo has been convicted of gender discrimination for denying a woman a job at its manufacturing plant because she was too short to work at the conveyor belt. The court ruled that statistically, Volvo's height requirement of 5 foot 4 inches to 6 foot 5 inches excluded more women than men, and should therefore be considered as gender discrimination.
