Vote Scheduled on Chicago Teachers' Contract
Delegates for the Chicago Teachers' Union will meet on Tuesday to vote on a new contract offer and whether to end a seven-day strike. The 800 delegates were presented with the settlement on Sunday, but asked for more time to consider it before voting. On Monday, the Mayor sought an injunction to end the strike, saying that it was illegal. A judge is scheduled to hear the case on Wednesday morning if the strike has not ended. Negotiations have centered around compensation, evaluations and layoffs.
