Wabtec and the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers for America have reached a new contract agreement after two months of worker strikes
The largest locomotive manufacturer in the United States, Wabtec, has finally reached an agreement with workers after months of negotiations. Unionized Wabtec workers are represented by the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers for America union, and these workers have been on strike for the past 2 months. Workers a part of the union have been on strike to demand greater wages, improved grievance processes, and better employee benefits. The agreement establishes a two-tiered wage system that pays new workers less and increases salaries over time. The new contract will also raise wages by 3% in each of the next three years, as well as provide a ratification bonus.
