Wage negotiations in Japan aimed at addressing wage stagnation and economic distress expected to result in large pay increases for many Japanese workers
In Japan, current labor talks part of the "shunto" wage negotiations are expecting to result in the largest pay rise for Japanese workers in nearly three decades. Next week, the Japanese government plans to meet with businesses and unions to encourage policies that will address the country's issues with deflation and wage stagnation. While large companies like Toyota and Nintendo have already accepted union demands to raise base salaries, it may be more challenging for smaller businesses to follow suit.
