Wal-Mart hiring more temporary workers
A Reuters survey found that the nation?s largest retailer Wal-Mart has only been hiring temporary workers in recent months. The survey polled one Wal-Mart location in every state. The results showed that 27 locations were hiring only temps, 20 were hiring a combination of regular, part-time, and temp jobs, and five were not hiring at all. Company officials have remarked that the hiring trend is to ensure that its locations are sufficiently staffed when the store is busiest. Industry experts and retail executives have suggested that the strategy could be an effort to minimize healthcare costs in the face of new healthcare reforms.
