Wal-Mart to Announce Women-Friendly Plans
Wal-Mart has announced new plans to support women-owned businesses and female workers. The move comes after the Supreme Court ruled against a class-action suit brought by female Wal-Mart employees. Wal-Mart says that it will buy $4 billion worth of products from businesses owned by women in the United States for the next five years, support the training of women workers in supplier factories and donate $100 million to support economic development for women. The company says that it makes sense to support women, who represent a large number of Wal-Mart customers and workers. Critics say that the move does not help fix the problems alleged by women who participated in the class-action, some of whom say they plan to file individual lawsuits.
