Wal-Mart's U.S. Expansion Plans Complicated by Bribery Scandal
After instances of bribery in Mexico came to light last week, Wal-Mart's bid to expand into cities is facing increased resistance. City governments in Los Angeles and New York are looking into permits and land purchases, as well as any other instances of anything not above board. For those who have been against Wal-Mart's expansion into cities, like the United Food and Commercial Workers, the change in attitude is welcome. They say that it validates what they have been saying about Wal-Mart, and that their cities are better off without the store.
