Walmart Strike Hits 100 Cities, But Fails To Distract Black Friday Shoppers
Wal-Mart workers and supporters staged protests across the country on Black Friday. The workers said that the goal of their protests was to raise awareness around low pay, the lack of benefits and Wal-Mart's mistreatment of workers. While the effect of the protests on shoppers is unclear, many people said that they supported the workers. Some workers said that they were afraid to participate because of retaliation from the company. Wal-Mart said that protests had no effect, and that few workers participated, while the organizers of the event said that hundreds of workers across the country participated.
