Walmart workers say their raise is minimal and unacceptable
Walmart employees will see a $1 raise in wages but say it is simply not enough. The starting hourly wage for new hires will be $12 instead of $11 and will bump every current worker’s wage by $1, but workers who have been at the company 10+ years are making just barely more than these new hires. Walmart, the parent company of Sam’s Club, announced that they will be raising Sam’s Club worker’s starting wage from $11 to $15. Employees are struggling to make ends meet and the United for Respect for Walmart members are pushing for a $15 minimum wage.
