Walt Disney to investigate allegations of labor abuse at Chinese factory
Walt Disney, the U.S. media company, is investigating allegations of labor abuse at one of its factories in China. "Our auditors are currently in the factory investigating claims brought to our attention," Alannah Goss, the company's Asia spokeswoman, based in Hong Kong, said in an e-mail Friday. She declined to identify the factory and said Disney would not comment further until the investigation is completed in "the coming days." Walt Disney and Sanrio were named in an August report by China Labor Watch, an advocacy group based in New York, as companies whose demands for lower prices from toy suppliers contribute to low product quality.
