Washington State University administration and unionized student workers reach a new agreement after 2-hour strike
Washington State University student workers who are a part of the WSU Coalition of Academic Student Employees-United Auto Workers went on strike earlier this month to protest against the failure of university administration to meet the union’s demands. Student workers went on strike on various campuses around the state, and after two hours of strike action, Washington State University administration agreed to a new tentative contract with the union. The tentative agreement includes a base wage, wage increases, improved health benefits, and better employee insurance. The contract also includes additional parental paid leave and partial tuition remission. Negotiations between the union and the university administration lasted for one year, and hundreds of proposals and revisions were made, along with the addition of several contract articles.
