Weekly Jobless Claims Jump To 6-Month High
Unemployment claims jumped 66,000 over last week, which is about 62,000 higher than economists had predicted. Over half of the discrepancy comes from California processing many backlogged claims as well as furloughed federal employees who are waiting to go back to work. While states like Oregon and California added over 1,000 claims each, others such as Michigan, New York, Florida, Texas, and Alabama all saw a decrease in their initial claims by over 1,000.
