Yesterday, WeWork issued a statement saying that it would now only hire unionized janitorial staff at its Boston and New York locations. Previously, WeWork was only paying its janitorial staff contracted from Commercial Building Maintenance $10 an hour which let to numerous protests. WeWork has set aside $250,000 for severance payments for several of the employees of Commercial Building Maintenance who will not be re-hired under this new agreement.
